Messages from Big Island, Hawaii, in Japanese and English
When I was still very nervous on driving, my husband told me, “it is not driving. It is called ‘freaking-out’.”
Since then, I was telling myself, “practice makes perfect”. “Just keep driving!” I have kept driving. I am still nervous, but little by little, I have started to enjoy it. When I enjoy, I can relax more and get more attentive to everything happening around us. When we are tensed, our visibility might become narrower. That is dangerous. I am praying to God every day that driving will be my “refreshment” and “joy”. If driving becomes joy and a refreshing thing, I can go back to work in a refreshed mode after driving. That was my originally purpose of driving anyway! Good music has been helping me to relax and focus on driving without worrying or getting nervous. Hawaiians are one of my favorite music to listen in the car. When I listen to some Hawaiian songs, I feel strong, composed, and get focused. Last weekend, my husband showed me beautiful Hawaiian songs in the car. Our late Hawaiian Hanai Dad was always playing Hawaiian music during driving. My husband, who spent so much time with him, was really exposed deeply to many of beautiful pieces. My husband showed one music to me, and I got thrilled. What a beautiful music!! I had already knew this song, and I remembered I have sung this song at our choir! Brothers Cazimero “Waika” https://youtu.be/I_J-ADVILNo The music embraced us with heavenly feeling in the scenery of majestic big mountains and gorgeous colored ocean water under the blue sky. And what beautiful voices!! My husband kept showing other beautiful Hawaiians. They all were nice, but I asked him I want something more powerful one, which come to my heart. He showed this music saying it is his most favorite one. Gabby Pahinui https://youtu.be/6UFdA20Fv0k Wow!! Listening to this music, I felt the land and spirits of nature around us starting to talk to us. Comments are closed.
