Messages from Big Island, Hawaii, in Japanese and English
Thanks to the encouragement by the Director of KCS, Susie, I decided to participate in KCS Soirée by singing "America the Beautiful".
This is the video I used as BGM. https://youtu.be/MAU2TgfZAcc Since I could not put the sound of the video on Zoom, it turned to be my a cappella to the audience. I blasted. I blasted at a higher note at the ending. This is a very beautiful music. Whenever I sing this song, various sceneries come back to my mind. I have flown to the mainland so many times last 7 or 8 years. I have been always enjoying flying above the Rocky Mountains, shining oceans, and vast plains. (except big turbulences) I remember the awesome color of the mountain I saw from the airplane in the evening. I remember the alabaster cities in a refreshing morning air. My feeling hits a peak when I sang the phrases, "Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy Liberty in Law!" I was shaking while singing. Even with Zoom, singing alone is a totally different ball game. I was nervous. However, I sang by putting my emotions into words and tried to express my love and respect to this country. People clapped their hands in the screen and sent very warm and encouraging messages to me. The section leader of Alto, Anne, who has been always supportive to my singing activities, sent me a very delightful messages including, "Pat yourself on the back!!" The night, I slept so well. Next morning, I noticed my face skin looked so smooth. I looked younger and very healthy. I was convinced again that singing is a very good thing for our mind, body, and spirit. Comments are closed.
