Messages from Big Island, Hawaii, in Japanese and English
I missed the fall semester this year for KCS. I wanted to jump in the last rehearsal, which was singing along Christmas songs.
https://konachoralsociety.org/ It was more than I expected. As always, Susie made a very rich program in a limited Zoom rehearsal time. After various Christmas songs, she put this song as the last piece for us to sing together this year. "See Amid the Winter's Snow" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFDBS665HjE I had a music score with me because we sang this piece in the past. I was trying to sing along, and then, I was deeply into the performance in the video above. This choir performance is one of the best I have ever heard and watched before. So pure, so serene, and beautiful! This scene brought me a flashback. That was the night I was singing in the college choir in the chapel for Christmas. When we were singing in the big tree made by choir members in the Chapel, I was looking down the hall with lots of audience. The candles were handed to all audience. Then, the person at the end of the row received a light on his candle. He put the light on his candle to the next person's candle. She does the same thing to her neighbor's candle, and on and on. The chapel was dark before. However, the light was shared gradually, and finally the light was shared with all audience. The chapel got a full of light and lit up! It got so bright. We are in a world that darkness is trying to dominate. We are seeing lots of ugliness, dirtiness, and angers. In this very dark time, I was reminded the night when the chapel got filled with lights and came to shine by candle lights of everyone! I burst into tears. I cried hard. I could not sing any more…... This video gave me goose bumps all over my body. If we do not give up and keep holding a hope and keep sharing the light, we will change the future. Justice and Love will prevail this whole world. Righteousness will win over evils. I am again convinced by the power of music. Music can convey strong messages directly from the Heaven to us with visions and vibration. Comments are closed.
